The Old Coastguards Station 

If you wander to the edge of the sea front at Robin Hood’s Bay you’ll spot the iconic Old Coastguards Station. The ultimate location for those who love to explore and learn more about what makes this particular part of the coast so special. The station boasts an array of hands-on models alongside an intriguing display of history. 


Geology lovers, this one's for you. You’ll learn the secrets of working, and surviving where the land meets sea; You’ll even get to generate your very own waves as you generate wind power.


If this is a familiar affair, kids will love a splash around in the rock pool searching for hidden treasures such as crabs, winkles, sea anemones and other interesting creatures. 


Robin Hood’s Bay Museum

If you like to get amongst local history you’ll love Robin Hood’s Bay museum. Whether it’s fishing, geology, history or shipping displays you’re sure to learn plenty about the goings on back in the day. 


From replica smuggler’s houses to shipwrecks it’s the perfect place to immerse yourself into local traditions and history.


Old St.Stephens Church 

This spectacular church was built in 1822 and is a must see for all. It overlooks the village and showcases beautiful memorial to shipwreck victims, alongside a model of the SS Pretoria. 


Be sure to venture inside to capture it’s full beauty, it highlights an array of original items that are sure to pique your interest.

The Quirky Shopping

Who doesn’t enjoy a ramble around cobbled streets, stopping off into unique gift shops, antique stores, quaint bookshops and more. Berties of Bay is particularly popular, the special shop retrieves traditional nautical styles that were shown off along the Yorkshire coast line from years gone by. You’ll also find a series of watering holes offering an array of delicious snacks and beverages to keep you going throughout the day. 


The Cinder Track

Whether you enjoy cycling or walking, the Cinder Track which stretches from Mount Pleasant North to Whitby makes a fabulous trail. A 7.38 mile journey, the whole track will take about 3 hours to walk, enrapturing the delightful Larpool Viaduct, and unbelievable country views.


Falling Foss Tea Garden and Waterfall 

Natural beauty at it’s finest, you’ll find this gem nestled inside Sneaton Forest, just a small drive from Robin Hood’s Bay. The perfect place to explore, relax and take in nature, if you love feeling at one with the outdoors this is a spot not to be missed.


The Boggle Hole

Boggle Hole is a site of special scientific interest (SSSI) due to the intriguing, and fascinating fossils that can be found here. While fossils can be found all-year-round, fossil hunting in winter is particularly rewarding as fabulous ammonite can be found.


It’s quirky Boggle Hole name is derived from a local name for a mischievous hobgoblin who was thought to have dwelled in the caves. 


Be sure to check the tide times though as it’s not accessible via the cliff path or beach at high tide.

Even if you’re not a massive fan of history, the striking coastline is enough to make your visit worthwhile. Enjoy the stunning scenery with fish and chips in hand, or breathe in the fresh salty air as you take a walk along the coast.
